Hiking - MONIEUX - The Gorges of La Nesque

Set off to discover this spectacular and wild canyon! One of Provence's most unique and sensitive natural sites.

"They told me, 'Take this hike and you'll feel like a bird!' And indeed! At the start of the hike, you overlook the Gorges de La Nesque, imagining yourself a raptor on the lookout for prey, with an unobstructed view, an excellent observation point. Then, as the hike progresses, your flight descends into the gorges, closer to the Nesque, a final dive to catch your prey." Baptiste MONTESINOS, Natura 2000 Project Manager for the Gorges de la Nesque at the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park (PNR).

  • Point 2: ford crossing and dizzying sections

  • Point 3: crossing the D942 with limited visibility.

  • Dizzying sections, not recommended for those highly sensitive to heights and for children.

  • Routes not recommended in bad weather, as rain makes the rock slippery.

  • HUNTING: During hunting season, wear brightly colored clothing, make yourself clearly visible, and respect signage put up by hunters. Z

  • PASTORAL ZONE: If you encounter livestock guardian dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, then wait patiently for the 'inspection' to end before calmly continuing your way, circumnavigating the herd as much as possible. Preferably, do not bring your dog, or if you do, keep it on a leash. For reference, consult the best practices to adopt when encountering livestock guardian dogs.

  • FIRE RISK: Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden regardless of the season! And during summer, before heading out, check the conditions and regulations for access to forest areas.
