Hiking - MONTAUBAN-SUR-L'OUVEZE - Chamouse from Ruissas

From peak to peak, get away for a day in this heavenly setting! The pastures and views offer a unique glimpse into the Baronnies Provençales region!

"A challenging hike that's well worth it. Chamouse Mountain allowed me to get away, exploring its ridges and summits. The ever-present pastures and mountains stretching as far as the eye can see are memories that will forever be etched in my mind. Its diverse flora and fauna offer a chance to truly immerse yourself in this landscape. Start early to climb in the cool morning air and enjoy a well-deserved picnic with a panoramic view!" Hugo COLIN, intern at the Pnr des Baronnies provençales

RESPECT THE PEACE AND QUIET of the area you are hiking through; avoid shouting and refrain from using loud instruments or devices (radio, etc.), out of respect for other visitors and for the wildlife's serenity, especially during breeding and wintering periods when animals are much more vulnerable.

WILDFIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest… and of the hiker! Do not smoke in the forest and do not light any fires; furthermore, it is forbidden regardless of the season! During the summer, before setting out, inquire about the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.

A portion of the trail is highly exposed to the sun; bring necessary equipment (water, cap, sunscreen, etc.) for hot summer days. Opt for an early morning start to avoid the hottest parts of the day.

WARNING: PASTORAL AREA ahead: if you encounter protection dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop and wait patiently for them to finish their 'inspection' before calmly continuing your way, bypassing the herd as much as possible. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it strictly on a leash. Remember to close all gates behind you.

Between points 2 and 3, the path is indistinct when crossing pastures and low vegetation. Follow the trail markers and consult your map. Between points 3 and 4, the trail is marked with wooden posts along the ridges where there is no clear path.
