Hiking - Montmagny (from Notre-Dame-du-Pré)

This trail is an easy loop starting from Notre-Dame-du-Pré at the Place du Village (D1). A beautiful hike for families, with a lovely viewpoint from the Rocher du Torrond overlook (1168 m) at the halfway point.
A beautiful walk in the forest with lovely views, and an overlook to admire the view of the valley.

A beautiful forest hike starting from the car park at the village square in Notre-Dame-du-Pré.

From the car park, head down the road towards the edge of Notre-Dame-du-Pré, in the direction of Moûtiers.

After the second bend, hikers will find the first point of interest: La Pierre à Cupules. Although scientists do not know the meaning of the "cupules" (cup marks) — these round and linear engravings in the stone — we do know that they date back at least 3,000 years!

Then take the road opposite La Pierre à Cupules; the green and yellow waymarked trail begins on the right after about thirty metres.

Follow this trail downhill to the village of Montmagny; it crosses the local road twice.

Once in Montmagny, head to the right side of the village, either via the path or along the local road, and rejoin the main trail from the hairpin bend on the right of the village (the trail is next to a chalet on stilts!).

Once on the trail, head uphill, following the waymarkers and signs for "Notre-Dame-du-Pré".

After walking for about twenty minutes, the Bois du Torrond overlook offers hikers a breathtaking view over the Tarentaise valley and the villages of Montgirod, Centron and Villette below.

Continue following the trail uphill. A few metres before reaching the local road, take the path that climbs up through the forest on your left, then follow it until you are back on the local road, just a few metres from La Pierre à Cupules that you saw at the start of the hike!

Finish the loop by walking back up the road to the car park in the village square.
