Trailence

Hiking - ORPIERRE - Le Rocher Saint-Michel

A comprehensive exploration of the Céans valley, combining rocky balcony trails, woodland sections, and a summit panorama.

The hike begins gently on a track offering a beautiful view of the village and its cliffs, then becomes more immersive as it traverses a path overlooking the Ravin de Bagnols. The ascent through the forest to the Rocher Saint-Michel is rewarded with a panorama over the Céans and Buëch valleys. The descent, which is rather physically demanding, follows small trails along ridges and through woodland, offering a wilder atmosphere.

  • RESPECT THE TRANQUILLITY of the area you are walking in; avoid shouting and do not use any sound systems (radios, etc.), out of respect for other users and for the peace of the local wildlife, especially during breeding and wintering seasons when animals are much more vulnerable.

  • Avoid picking wild plants: some of them are protected.

  • Part of the route is very exposed to the sun, so be sure to bring the necessary gear (water, hat, sunscreen, etc.) on hot summer days. An early morning start is recommended to avoid the hottest part of the day.

  • FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke in the forest and do not light any fires, especially as this is forbidden in all seasons! And during the summer, before setting out, check the access conditions and regulations for forested areas.
