Hiking - ROBION - Rochers de Baude and Crane de Colombier

Petit Luberon, a biodiversity hotspot!

"How beautiful this Luberon is! Sometimes rugged, sometimes Tuscan, sometimes emerald or blue, sometimes mauve or grey. It is always inspired and always inspires those who approach it, who travel through it, who gaze upon it." Serge Bec (1933 - 2021), a Provençal-language poet born in Cavaillon, former deputy director of the Luberon Regional Natural Park.

  • Please note: while this hike is relatively short in distance, the elevation gain is significant and the trails are demanding.

  • Between waypoints 2 and 3: be careful on the ledges of the Cirque de Boulon and watch your ankles on the stony descents.

  • After waypoint 6: a steep descent with some technical rocky or stony sections. Use caution!

  • Below the Rochers de Baude and on the ridges of the Crane de Colombier, please be as quiet as possible to protect the peace of the birds of prey that nest and live in the area.

  • WARNING: PASTORAL AREA on the ridges and around the Crâne du Colombier from 15 March to 15 June. If livestock guardian dogs approach you, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, wait patiently for them to 'check' you out, then calmly resume your walk, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. As a reminder, review the correct way to behave around livestock guardian dogs.

  • FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden year-round! And in the summer, before setting out, check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
