Hiking - ROSANS - Le Serre de l'Aigle

A very varied hike through a national forest and then along a ridge. Beautiful views over the Rosans valley and the distinctive summit of Le Risou.

This hike on the outskirts of the medieval village of Rosans is a great way to discover how the landscapes and place names have evolved over time. The elevation gained in the first part of the route allows for a better appreciation of the village's position and history in this wide-open valley.

  • After waypoint 1: stream crossing.

  • At waypoint 2: please respect the fences along the path and be careful on the rock slab, especially in wet weather or after a storm, near waypoint 3.

  • WARNING: PASTORAL AREA on the trail: if you encounter livestock guardian dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, wait patiently for them to 'check you out', then calmly resume your walk, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your own dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. Remember to close all gates behind you.

  • RESPECT THE TRANQUILLITY of the area. Avoid shouting and do not use sound devices (radios, etc.), out of respect for other users and for the peace of the local wildlife, especially during breeding and wintering seasons when animals are much more vulnerable.

  • Avoid picking wild plants: some of them are protected species.

  • Part of the route is very exposed to the sun; bring the necessary gear (water, hat, sunscreen, etc.) on hot summer days. It is best to start early in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day.

  • FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest; it is forbidden in all seasons! During the summer, before setting out, check the conditions and regulations for access to forest areas.
