Hiking - SAINT-ÉTIENNE-DU-GRÈS - The Great Alpilles Pine Forest

A trail that winds between ridges and valleys in the shade of pine trees, with exceptional views over the Alpilles!

Some hidden gems are well worth the visit. This trail is a delightful succession of ridgeline paths, tracks nestled in valleys, striking panoramas, pine forests, and olive groves. Once you reach the Notre-Dame du Château chapel, you can enjoy a contemplative break looking out at the horizon, with Tarascon, Avignon, la Montagnette and Mont Ventoux in your line of sight.

  • At point 5: do not use the cattle grid towards the vineyards (private property).

  • At point 7: beware of slippery sections on the rocks during the ascent to the top of the promontory.

  • At point 9: the section near the road is hazardous due to traffic; stay well on the verge.

  • FIRE RISK: fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! I will not smoke or light any fires in the forest, as this is prohibited at all times of the year! And in summer, before setting out on a walk, I check the access conditions and regulations for forested areas.
