Hiking - SAINT-LEGER-DU-VENTOUX - Ascent of Mont Ventoux via the North Face
1500m of elevation gain, a river, a fir forest, scree slopes, and a spectacular finale.
“I climbed 1500m of elevation gain, going from the riverbanks to the fir forest, then to the rocky desert of the summit. Up there, all alone, the panorama is exceptional, and when the sea of fog covers everything, it’s magical!” Chloé Giboin, Outdoor Sports Project Manager at the Mont Ventoux Regional Natural Park.
- WEATHER CONDITIONS: this route is not recommended in adverse weather conditions (strong wind, rain, snow, ice...). Before setting out, check the weather at the summit.
- HUNTING: during hunting season, wear brightly coloured clothing, make your presence known, and respect any signs put up by hunters.
- GRAZING AREA: if livestock guardian dogs approach you, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, then wait patiently for them to finish their "inspection" before calmly continuing on your way, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. As a reminder, review the proper way to react to livestock guardian dogs.
- FIRE RISK: fire is the enemy of the forest… and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest, as it is forbidden year-round! And during the summer, before setting out, check the current access conditions and regulations for forested areas.
