Walking - SAINT-MAY - Le Plateau de Saint-Laurent

While watching the vultures, immerse yourself in magnificent scenery shaped by traditional farming practices.

"If I had to recommend ONE place to visit in the Baronnies provençales, I would undoubtedly choose the Plateau de Saint-Laurent. In addition to the aerial ballet of vultures and other birds, you can gaze upon some of the massif's majestic peaks while discovering the area's typical farming practices. It's a place to escape and recharge." Kim CHAPUIS, Outdoor Sports Project Manager at the Baronnies Provençales Regional Natural Park

  • RESPECT THE PEACE AND QUIET of the area. Avoid shouting and do not use any sound systems or devices (radios, etc.), out of respect for other users and for the wildlife, especially during breeding and wintering seasons when animals are much more vulnerable.

  • Avoid picking wild plants: some of them are protected species.

  • CAUTION: PASTORAL AREA AHEAD: If you are approached by livestock guardian dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, wait patiently for them to 'check' you, and then calmly continue on your way, giving the flock a wide berth. It is best not to bring your dog; if you do, keep it on a tight leash. Remember to close all gates behind you.

  • Part of the route is highly exposed to the sun. On hot summer days, be sure to bring the necessary gear (water, hat, sunscreen, etc.). It is best to start early in the morning to avoid the hottest part of the day.

  • FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest, as it is forbidden year-round! During the summer season, before setting out, check the access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
