Sauvessanges
The 11th-century Romanesque church of Sauvessanges was replaced in 1882 by a modern construction of grand proportions. Its bell tower houses 3 bells, including a very large one dating from the year 1500 which has been recast several times. The stained-glass windows, notably depicting the Curé d'Ars and St Francis Regis, are by the Clermont-Ferrand glass painter Malhot. History of Sauvessanges: searching for the origins of this name leads us back to the Roman period and the domain of Salvicius. This Romanization is attested in numerous works; in 1921, near the hamlet of Sarras, a vase containing 600 Roman coins was even discovered.
