Hiking - Brévon Valley Trail
This predominantly woodland loop offers picturesque views of the villages of Beaulieu, Rochefort-sur-Brévon, and the Brévon valley.
Along the way, keep an ear out and try to identify birds by their calls!
The vast limestone plateau of the Châtillonnais is cut by a network of small rivers, tributaries of the Seine, which meander through narrow valleys. Spared from intensive farming, these valley floors are used for grazing, which ensures a rich and diverse biocenosis (community of living organisms). The White-throated Dipper is an inhabitant of these rivers; its nesting is aided by the structures built along the watercourse: bridges, mills, and villages. The route allows you to immerse yourself in the deciduous forest, which features beautiful beech groves on the slopes, oak woods on the plateaus, and ash groves near the river. The full range of forest birdlife is present.
This hike is taken from the short guide to ornithological hiking in Côte d'Or, published by the LPO, available at https://www.cotedor.fr/sites/cotedor/files/media/documents/2018/05/Guide-Rando-Ornitho.pdf
