Hiking - Sentier du Bois Grézé - Graix no. 3

The Graix area (from the Latin grésum: stony ground) covers 860 hectares, comprising meadows, pastures, farmland, heathland and woods: conifers and deciduous trees (nearly 400 ha).

The altitude in Graix ranges from 870 m to 1,432 m. The Crêt de la Perdrix, the highest point of the Pilat massif, is located in the municipality. It's a fantastic viewpoint: to the north lie the Monts du Lyonnais, to the west the Monts du Forez, to the south the Ardèche mountains, and to the east the Rhône valley and the Alps. There are also beautiful views of the Mézenc and the Gerbier-de-Jonc.

The municipality is located on the southern slope of the Pilat and therefore enjoys plenty of sunshine. Nature here is preserved and the landscape is unspoiled, creating a sense of calm and serenity perfect for relaxing, as well as for hiking.

Follow trail no. 4 to the Croix de Font Froide. Opposite the ski lift, take the path on the left that leads to Les Gouttes (rural guesthouses).

Go past the house then continue to the Route de l’Oeillon and cross it. The path ahead is a no-through road serving a few chalets.

At the intersection with a forest path, you can extend the hike by turning left on the other side of the Route de La Jasserie (GR7 and Park Trail) to reach the Croix de Chaubouret. Return via the same path.

Alternatively: take the forest path to the right, which passes below the chalets, and follow it to the hamlet of Les Hautes Gouttes. Then, rejoin the Route de l’Oeillon (D63), follow it for 400 m, and turn right onto a path that goes down to the ski lift. Then return via the same path.

⚠️ Caution: busy road. Please be careful.

You are responsible for your own safety. Therefore, you undertake this hike at your own risk. Please stay on the waymarked trails to protect fragile environments.
