Walking - The Pilgrim's Path: Discovering mountain religious heritage

With its twenty-two hamlets, the commune of Les Belleville has almost as many chapels! Winding between meadows and hamlets, this spiritual getaway tells the story of the vibrant faith that once filled our mountains.
"This lovely pilgrim's walk will lead you from churches to chapels, sanctuaries, and oratories, in the footsteps of our mountain ancestors who, over the centuries, left us remarkable testaments to the deep faith that inspired them" Philippe Pouchelle, a resident of Saint-Marcel.
From the Notre-Dame de la Vie sanctuary, take the marked trail towards the hamlet of Saint Marcel. Once in the hamlet, head to the playground on Place Marcel et Grégoire. Then cross through the village and the D117 road. The trail then climbs steeply through the meadows to reach the Sainte Anne oratory. Fork right onto a flat path to reach the hamlet of Les Granges and the Sainte Agathe chapel. The return journey involves crossing the D117 again (warning: there is no pedestrian crossing), then following the path down to Saint Marcel and the Notre-Dame de la Vie chapel.
