Hiking - Sentier Moûtiers - Hautecour
This hike, with a 600m elevation gain, accessible in both winter and summer, allows you to alternate between orchards and typical hamlets. The traditional architecture of the dwellings, the old bread oven, oratories, churches, and chapels recall the customs and beliefs of villagers from yesteryear.
A beautiful walk on the sunny hillside offering scenic and heritage interest.
The hike starts in front of the Tourist Office.
Head towards the town hall, then turn right along the railway track until you reach the Cordeliers retirement home. Then take the covered stairs that lead to the D85 (Route de Hautecour).
A little further up, at the first building, take the flight of stairs on your right and go behind the building, following the path.
At the intersection, turn right, then cross the road and rejoin the path straight ahead until the next intersection, where you will again turn right.
Further on, cross the road and take the shortcut to reach the road again, which you will follow for a few meters.
You will find the start of the path on your right; continue until the next intersection where you will also turn right, crossing the road twice. The path will be straight ahead, and you will go through the forest.
At the intersection, turn right again, cross the road, and continue on the path that overlooks the Route du Quermoz.
At the hairpin bend, turn right and follow the Boilet stream until the hamlet of Hautecour la Basse. Follow the road, passing under the chapel until the next intersection. At the bend, take the path on the right, then go straight and turn left at the next bend.
At the cross by the roadside, continue uphill on the D85, take the bend, and walk a few meters before taking the path on the right. Climb up to the stream, which you will cross and follow until the Breuil lake.
Upon arrival, an easy walk allows you to go around the lake and discover original Land'Art creations.
