Hiking - Quermoz Summit: A ridge hike between the Beaufortain and Tarentaise

Destination: 2296 m! Expansive panoramas unfold as you make your way along forest tracks and through alpine pastures.

The Quermoz summit is a fantastic viewpoint overlooking the Mont-Blanc, the Graian Alps, the Vanoise, the Encombres, the Ecrins, La Meije, the Lauzière, Belledonne, the Bauges and the neighbouring peaks of the Beaufortain. The climb will give your calves a workout, but the breathtaking setting above the Tarentaise Valley is well worth the effort. In winter, the route is accessible on snowshoes!

Access: Go to Moûtiers, then head towards Hautecour on the D85. Continue towards Le Breuil then Le Villard. Just before Le Villard, turn left towards the hamlet of Le Pradier.
Parking: Car park at Le Pradier. This hike has no technical difficulties or exposed sections.

There are 2 possible variants from Hautecour for this hike to Quermoz (2296 m).
- Full route: From Moûtiers, take the D85 towards Hautecour, hamlet of Le Breuil (follow the "Plan d'eau" signs).
Continue on the road to Le Pradier (1300 m). 15 km round trip - Elevation gain: 981 m - 6h45 round trip from the Le Pradier car park.
- Short route: From the Le Pradier car park, continue along the road and turn right onto the track (signposted Quermoz-Faverge) to the Faverge chalets (1764 m).
9 km round trip - Elevation gain: 492 m - 3h50 round trip starting from the Faverge chalets, taking the forest road for 4.5 km.
The trail climbs directly behind the chalets towards the high-voltage power line. Then pass two other chalets to reach a large plateau at around 2000m, which leads to the Passage du Bozon (2054). Quermoz is ahead of you. All that remains is to make the final climb to the summit, either via the ridge or via the cross.
