Hiking - Tour de la Galafre
In the heart of the typical bocage landscapes of Auxois, you might encounter creatures from the legends of the Serein Valley. At the summit of the Thil hill, the remains of the castle and the collegiate church seem to watch over the region.
From its 480 m altitude, the Thil hill offers an exceptional panorama of the Morvan and the Auxois hills. On the hill, which has been developed for public access, are two prestigious historical sites, connected by an alley of multi-centenary lime trees - one of the oldest feudal castles in France (occupied from the 9th to the 17th century) and recently restored.
The hamlet of Vic-sous-Thil, with its Jura spruce roof. In the 19th century, Auxois draft horses were trained there. At Bierre-les-Semur, the Auxois Draft Horse Promotion Center, open to the public, also aims to preserve this breed, which is listed as regional heritage. - and the collegiate church, a jewel of 14th-century Gothic art. This fortified structure features a bell tower, a nave with a broken barrel vault, and a flat apse with three
bays. Both sites are occasionally open to the public, particularly during guided tours or concerts; inquire at the Précy-sous-Thil tourist office.
Hike through the very open landscapes of the Auxois bocage. Pass through typical villages with limestone houses.
