Over four days, hikers wind their way through the upper Valgaudemar valley from one mountain hut to the next, amidst a splendid, Himalayan-like scenery that is sure to leave a lasting impression.

From the alpine pastures, stunning views fuel the journey, immersing you in a bucolic atmosphere. But not for long, as lush green landscapes gradually give way to rocky and glacial terrain. You'll feel closer to iconic peaks like the Rouies, the Bancs, and the Sirac, but also incredibly small standing right beneath them.
Wildlife and alpine flora adorn the route, as do encounters with fellow mountain lovers in these wide open spaces and in the friendly atmosphere of the huts.

This is a condensed 4-stage version of the Valgaudemar Hut-to-Hut Tour, designed to let you explore the valley in depth, particularly the eastern part of the route. This itinerary follows high-altitude trails with a wild, remote feel, from which you might even spot vultures...

From the valley floor to the world of the high mountains, this comprehensive tour introduces you to life in the mountain huts and takes you all the way to the Col de Vallonpierre. In this alpine zone, the environment bears witness to the harshness of the mountain climate.
Other gems punctuate this hike, such as the Lac de Vallonpierre, a unique panoramic view of the Gioberney, and views of the Sirac from every angle.

In summer, an early morning start is recommended to take advantage of the cool air before the sun gets too high. This hike is also very pleasant in early spring (subject to the huts being open).
