Hiking - Tour du lac de Chamboux
This hike allows you to discover the most recent of the six large artificial reservoirs of the Morvan. The trail features specially constructed sections that make the route easier and more enjoyable for younger hikers. The dikes separating the three bodies of water
allow for easy shortening of the route.
Lake Chamboux
The most recent of the "great lakes of the Morvan," and the only one belonging to the Loire basin, Lake Chamboux, created in 1985 on the Ternin river, a tributary of the Arroux, to supply the Saulieu region with drinking water, is the smallest of the Morvan reservoirs. Its rockfill dam, composed of rock and earth debris,
forms three bodies of water with a total surface area of 75 ha. Amateur ornithologists can observe numerous aquatic birds there, such as the kingfisher, great crested grebe, little grebe, great egret, or grey heron. As for anglers, they will find roach, rudd, tench, carp, pike, trout...
Be careful when crossing several wet areas and streams! Water levels can rise rapidly with precipitation!
Furthermore, footbridges can be slippery in wet weather. Good footwear is recommended
