Hiking - Grand Paradis Vanoise Nature Trek - classic route stage C
The easiest stage of the Grand Paradis Vanoise Nature Trek's classic route, offering a variety of landscapes including waterfalls, forests, villages and pastures.
An ideal route for a family hike, allowing you to visit the authentic village of Val d'Isère and its surroundings. The two mountain huts are staffed and welcoming, located in the heart of the Vanoise National Park.
Enter the Malpasset gorges. As you exit the gorges, a winding path with switchbacks leads to the Pont Saint-Charles car park.
Cross the bridge over the D902 road, heading towards the Col de l’Iseran. Go past the heathland and the junction with the "Mangard" track, which descends to Le Fornet. Continue straight on into the Petit Bois forest, then cross the Ruisseau des Sounières and the Ruisseau de l’Iseran one after the other. At an altitude of 1969 m, follow the nature trail as it traverses downhill to the bridge over the Ruisseau des Leissieres.
On the GR5 trail, walk through the narrow lane of the Laisinant hamlet and follow the path that leads to Val d’Isère. At the junction by the Saint Jean chapel, turn left towards Le Manchet.
When you reach the old hamlet of Le Manchet, follow the GR55 trail which crosses the bridge and turns towards the southeast of the valley. At 2200 m, the path climbs up through a dense and sometimes rocky alpine meadow to the Refuge du Fond des Fours (2537 m).
