Hiking - Truc de Balduc
A hike for strong legs to discover this "Truc", a curious limestone promontory rising from the sedimentary plain. It overlooks the Valdonnez, a magnificent landscape of fields and meadows arranged in bocage.
If you come across two car wrecks, these are remnants from the filming of La Grande Vadrouille in 1966, when vehicles were thrown from the top of Balduc before crashing below!
Along the route, directional posts guide you, along with yellow trail markings. The names of localities and/or directions to follow are indicated in "bold italics and in quotation marks" in the description below:
From « BRENOUX », head towards « Chaumel ». At « Chaumel », turn right towards « TRUC DE BALDUC ». At « TRUC DE BALDUC », go straight to « Truc de Balduc-Est ». At « Truc de Balduc-Est », turn right towards « VARAZOUX » via « Lavogne de Varazoux ». At « Lavogne de Varazoux », return to « BRENOUX » via « Langlade », « Brenoux ».
Walk extracted from the cartoguide Mont Lozère, Pays des Sources, from Mont Goulet to the Bramont Gorges, prepared by the Mont Lozère Nature Center.
Along the cliff edges, remain discreet as raptors may be nesting. Please respect them.
Adapt your equipment to the day’s weather conditions. Remember that weather changes quickly in the mountains. Bring enough water, good shoes, and a hat.
