Hiking - Val Haut - La Valla en Gier 3

You can make a stop at “Luzernod”. In the hamlet, you will find some local heritage features: a stone trough, a cross, etc. And you can enjoy a remarkable panoramic view by heading towards the
football pitch, which is surrounded by a statue of the Madonna and the astronomical observatory.
Take the same path back to the village.

Start: Marie Badard community hall. Go up Rue Marcelin Champagnat to reach the Maison Champagnat (home of the community of Marist Brothers founded in 1817 by Marcellin Champagnat) and take the path of the same name to the left of his statue. Follow the waymarking for the Sentier Marcellin Champagnat (white and brown), passing through “Les Briassons” and “Les Pissorts”.

When you reach the “Croix du Sabot”, admire an ancient menhir topped with a cross. Leave the Sentier Champagnat by taking a path on the left to join the RD2 road and go uphill for a few metres before taking the “Chemin des Ayettes”.

Just before reaching the hamlet, take a path on the left that passes below the houses and goes down to the "Fare" stream. Cross it and head to the hamlet of “Le Sardier” via “La Cognetière”. At “Le Sardier”, turn right onto the partially cobbled downhill path until you reach a paved road on your left. Take it and cross through the hamlets of “Pralong” and “Chez Colomb”. From here, admire the viewpoint over the “Saut du Gier”. At “Le Chazot”, turn left, then right onto the path that leads to “La Pervenche”. Continue through the hamlet of “Vasseras” and keep climbing to emerge onto the RD2 road at the place known as “Les Pissorts”. Rejoin the Sentier Champagnat to return to the village.

⚠️ Warning: this is a busy road, please be careful.
