Hiking - VILLEPERDRIX - The Olive Tree Trail
A short hike in the heart of a landscape of dry-stone terraces. A trail that is sometimes steep and wild, but always enchanting.
Winding between low dry-stone walls and olive groves, this walk will introduce you to the typical hillsides of the Eygues gorges. Overlooking the gorges, the trail follows the old Roman road, carved directly into the rock, which crossed several bridges whose remains are still visible today. It's an immersion into the characteristic landscape of the Eygues valley, under the watchful eye of the vultures that nest in the area.
- Between points 2 and 3: there are some rocky sections.
- RESPECT THE TRANQUILLITY of the area where you are walking. Avoid shouting and do not use any sound systems (radios, etc.), out of respect for other visitors and for the peace of the local wildlife, especially during breeding and wintering seasons when the animals are much more vulnerable.
- Avoid picking wild plants: some of them are protected species.
- The path passes near cultivated fields that are private property. Please do not pick anything from the fields (lavender, fruit, etc.).
- A large part of the route is exposed to the sun. On hot summer days, make sure to bring the necessary gear (water, hat, sunscreen, etc.). It is best to set off early in the morning to avoid the midday heat.
- FIRE RISK. Fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light any fires in the forest; this is forbidden at all times of the year. During summer, before you set off, please check the current access conditions and regulations for forest areas.
