Hiking - VILLES-SUR-AUZON - The unusual story of April 9, 1919

This trail tells a story, as locals once again tread these paths. A hike with a mystery to solve!

This story takes place across two villages, Villes-sur-Auzon and Méthamis. There is no set direction, but to discover the end of the adventure, you will need to complete both trails.
Our hope is that you can get a feel for what life was like in the past: in Villes, when the charcoal burners would return to the valley, and in Méthamis, when peasants gathered high on the hillsides, on the terraced fields — moments that were harsh, yet filled with humanity and solidarity.

  • HUNTING: during hunting season, wear brightly coloured clothing, make your presence clearly known, and respect any signs put in place by hunters.

  • GRAZING AREA: if approached by livestock guardian dogs, do not pet or threaten them. Stop, then patiently wait for them to finish their "inspection" before calmly resuming your path, giving the flock as wide a berth as possible. It is best not to bring your own dog; if you do, keep it securely on a leash. For reference, review the best practices for encounters with livestock guardian dogs.

  • FIRE RISK: fire is the enemy of the forest... and the hiker! Do not smoke or light fires in the forest, as it is forbidden in all seasons! During the summer period, before setting out, check the current access conditions and regulations for forested areas.
